The Tarako that Creeps You Out
This is just “creepy”. Tarako is fish roe, and is often used in Japanese food as a “sauce”, just like people in Western countries use ketchup or tomato sauce. Except tarako tastes nasty, and brings with it a very strong “seafood” vibe about it.
This commercial is pretty accurate, because it’s very common to find Tarako Spagetti in various cafes in Japan.
As an aside, this commercial was such a hit in Japan that it spawned it’s own CDs and karaoke song, mostly because once you watch the commercial, you’ll have the ditty stuck in your head for at least a few days thereafter….
….tarako, tarako…..tarako…..
Oh……. my……. *runs away*
